Repeat Prescriptions
Please allow at least two full working days for prescriptions requests to be processed.
If you are taking certain medications on a regular basis the GP may authorise you to obtain repeat prescriptions from the Practice.
Ordering online - You can order your repeat medication online via the the NHS App and the Online Service. New users to the online service are required to complete a simple registration form, obtainable from reception, prior to using the system.
Ordering in person - Please use the computer generated repeat slip attached to your prescription to tick which items you require and drop it off at the Practice. This can be either the post box, labelled 'Castle Healthcare Practice' outside the front entrance or the box at the reception counter.
Repeat prescription requests will not be taken over the phone and must be in writing or come via an online platform.

Collections
You may arrange for a chemist to collect your prescription on your behalf simply by contacting your chosen pharmacy. Alternatively, it can be returned to you by post if you supply a stamped addressed envelope.
Emergency Supply Of Medicines Service
From 1st April 2023, patients that require urgent repeat medication, for example as a result of them running out of a repeat medication, or because they have damaged their medication, or because they have left home without it, will be able to obtain an urgent supply via pharmacies commissioned under the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service and not via the local Emergency Supply Service.
The fundamental difference is that under the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service, patients requiring an urgent supply of repeat medication will need to contact NHS 111 (by telephone or online) to be referred to a local participating pharmacy.
Patients will therefore no longer be able to be referred via GP practices or GP Out of Hours providers.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a GP, Nurse Practitioner or Practice Nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications. A message will be printed on repeat slips when a review is due. Please ensure you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
